    Anytime, day or night, KC-135 Stratotankers and other transient aircraft that pass through RAF Mildenhall hold vital communication codes which allow the team to get the mission done. This critical information is organized, packaged and passed onto aircrews by Airmen from the 100th Operations Support Squadron combat crew communications team, and securing messages is the name of the game.

    In coordination with U.S. European Command, the U.S. Air Force deployed F-35A Lightning IIs and F-15E Strike Eagles to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, as part of Operation Rapid Forge under the Department of Defense's Dynamic Force Employment Concept.

    “It was right after Pearl Harbor happened that my best friend and I decided to join up with the U.S. Army Air Corps,” recalled retired Master Sgt. Dewey Christopher, a former 351st Bomb Squadron crew chief, 100th Bombardment Group and World War II veteran. “We went to Oklahoma City to sign up and by Dec. 17, 1941, I was in the service.” Christopher recently visited RAF Mildenhall as guest of honor at a ceremony renaming the Professional Development Center after him, and shared some of the stories from when he was stationed in England during World War II.

    U.S. Airmen with the 100th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron headed out to Bucharest, Romania to train alongside with Romanian air force F-16s March 11-15. This was the second time the 100th Air Refueling Wing supported and performed air refueling sorties with the F-16s in Romania.

    The health of the KC-135 Stratotanker fleet at RAF Mildenhall is of the utmost importance as it is the only air refueling mission in the European and African theaters of military responsibility. Every day, these tankers take to the sky to provide fuel support to not only their U.S. Air Force brethren, but to ally and coalition forces in the hope of mission success.
  • USAFE Airmen conduct aeromedical evacuation training above Germany

    Members of the 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron from Ramstein Air Base performed training aboard a KC-135 Stratotanker from RAF Mildenhall, England, Jan. 23, 2019. During the training, members practiced emergency medical scenarios, including patients suffering worsening health conditions, cardiac emergencies, aircraft decompression and emergency ditching of an aircraft.

    Under complete darkness noises coming from every direction whirling around her, she focuses through the haze of her night vision goggles as she pulls more than 760 feet of heavy refueling hoses from one aircraft to another. Her face is full of sweat and her heart pounds, as a CV-22 Osprey hovers as it prepares to land before her.
