  • Team Mildenhall, 48th Fighter Wing don’t cry over spilled gas

    Airmen from RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath participated in a fuel spill exercise at RAF Mildenhall, England, May 15, 2019. The exercise, conducted annually in accordance with Defense Logistics Agency regulations, replicated a fuel spill and tested Airmen’s reaction to an event that could halt the base’s aerial refueling mission.

  • Bolt inspection tool wins Team Mildenhall innovation award

    Tech. Sgt. Steven Iziguerra, 100th Maintenance Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of the non-destructive inspections section, won the Team Mildenhall Innovation of the Quarter Award for the first quarter of 2019. As part of the NDI team, Iziguerra and his Airmen inspect aircraft parts to ensure they are anatomically sound, free of cracks and defects.
  • Immediate Response 2019 kicks off with 512th Contingency Response Element coordination

    The 512th Contingency Response Element, an Air Force Reserve unit assigned to Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, arrived here to participate in Immediate Response 2019, a multinational exercise, co-led by the Croatian Armed Forces, Slovenian Armed Forces and U.S. Army Europe.

    Airmen assigned to the 435th Construction Training Squadron applied their skills to restore a WWII memorial, April 30.The memorial is home to an engine that belonged to an aircraft shot down by enemy forces during D-Day. EUCOM leaders, consisting of members of all five branches of the U.S. military, discussed infrastructure developments with wing leadership and gained an understanding of the resources needed to continue the mission.
  • Different strokes: Airman combines love for drawing, Air Force

    With one paint brush secured in her right hand and another tucked behind her ear she effortlessly applies bright-yellow paint to her newest masterpiece. When presented with the chance to combine her love for drawing with her love for her job, one Airman jumped at the opportunity to create a mural for her squadron’s heritage room. The loud music blaring over the speakers in the background fits today’s mood, but it doesn’t matter because drawing is always her happy place. Though the environment has changed throughout the years, from doodling notebook sketches to drawing on canteens, they all symbolize one thing: an Airman’s love for creating new things.
  • The 728th AMS: Solutions, execution, evolution

    “It’s always been done this way.” This is a phrase that’s been said at almost every job around the world. It is a phrase that time and time again has halted the possibility of increased initiative, safety, time management and more. Members of the 728th Air Mobility Squadron are putting an end to that and crafting new ideas from some of their most creative members: junior Airmen and new NCOs. To encourage creativity and empower the squadron’s future leaders, leadership at the 728th AMS created a Solutions Group, which is comprised of members from across the squadron. The Solutions Group solves work-related issues they have either experienced or noticed and brainstorm ways to fix those problems.

    Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson visited with Wyvern Warriors at Aviano Air Base, Italy on April 24. Wilson was able to directly see and experience the many missions of the 31st Fighter Wing and how Aviano supports warfighters and contributes to the national defense strategy.
  • 2019 BTF comes to an end

    More than 450 personnel and six B-52 Stratofortresses from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, returned home following a short-term deployment to RAF Fairford, England, in support of U.S. Strategic Command’s Bomber Task Force in Europe, April 11, 2019. The BTF deployment enabled theater integration and training with joint partners, allied nations and other U.S. Air Force units, to further enhance bomber interoperability in the theater.
