  • Airmen, Agadez civic leaders build partnership

    Nigerien civic leaders, regional security officials, religious leaders and media reporters from the Agadez region, met with U.S. and Nigerien military leaders from the 724th Expeditionary Air Base Squadron during a tour of Nigerien Air Base 201, Feb. 21. The purpose of the visit was to educate local leaders and demystify concerns the local community may have about the construction projects on base.
  • Airmen save missing child, sharpen interoperability

    Recently, an 822nd Expeditionary Base Defense Squadron security forces patrol team collaborated with local military members to rescue a two-year-old girl, after being notified by local villagers that she was lost near Nigerien Air Base 201. “She simply wandered away from the village in the late evening hours,” said Chief Master Sgt. Rick A. Schlachter, 822nd EBDS Security Forces manager. “By village we're literally talking mud and stick huts in the middle of the desert.”

    Lt. Gen. Richard Clark, 3rd Air Force/17th Expeditionary Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Anthony Cruz Munoz, 3rd AF/17th EAF command chief, traveled throughout Africa to meet deployed Airmen across the 435th Air Expeditionary Wing, from Oct. 16 - 20.
