U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning IIs and F-15E Strike Eagles based at Royal Air Force Lakenheath and KC-135 Stratotankers from Royal Air Force Mildenhall are scheduled to participate in Atlantic Trident 2023 from October 30 to November 10, 2023.

Atlantic Trident 2023 is a multinational exercise with French, U.K. and U.S. forces focused on improving interoperability and integration among the participants’ fourth- and fifth-generation fighter aircraft. This year’s version of the biennial exercise is hosted by the United Kingdom.

Partner assets projected to participate in the exercise include the French Air and Space Force Rafale, E-3F Airborne Warning and Control System, and A330 Phénix Multi Role Tanker Transport. The U.K.’s scheduled participation includes the HMS Queen Elizabeth and a host of aircraft including the Royal Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon, A330 Voyager, and Royal Navy F-35B Lightning II.

The Atlantic Trident 2023 exercise will also enhance combat readiness and fighting capabilities with opportunities to test and improve shared technical and tactical knowledge while conducting complex air operations in a multinational, joint forces environment.

The partnerships created through training events, like Atlantic Trident, demonstrate United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa’s ability to employ strategic forces in theater whenever called upon.
