12 nation wing feed Afghanistan surge
Airmen from the multinational Heavy Airlift Wing move equipment in preparation for shipment to units in Afghanistan, March 30. The HAW moved more than 2.1 million pounds of War Reserve Material essential to surge operations supporting the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. The HAW, based at Pápa Air Base, Hungary, operates three C-17 Globemaster III aircraft independently of NATO's military command and is comprised of 12 nations that activated the unit, July 27, 2009.
