Team USAFE,

My wife, Betty, and I are extremely honored to join you in this wonderful Command! We're looking forward to spending our holiday season with you this year. You've done great things over the past year and I know you and your families will continue to be brilliant in 2011 ... you can't help it, it's just who you are!

The holiday season is a time to reflect on our blessings and to celebrate with family and friends. We should also remember that some of our teammates won't have that luxury and that separation, stress and loneliness seem to be magnified this time of year. Betty and I ask that you reach out to our deployed Airmen, the families who miss them, our single Airmen, and anyone else in need. We're a family; that's what families do. The smallest gesture can make a world of difference.

Historically, we see a spike in mishaps during the time between Christmas and New Year's Day. Please pay special attention to your surroundings, the weather, and especially your "celebration game plan" during the holiday season. And never forget to take care of your Wingmen. When you head to the next party, bring along some common sense, and a dedicated driver if you plan to try the eggnog! We need you back after the New Year! 2011 will be a great year for USAFE, but it won't be nearly as great without you standing beside us!

Betty and I want to thank you and your families for your service, dedication, and sacrifice. Please accept our sincere best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season. I look forward to seeing you in 2011!
