This year, the local students conducted a half-day visit to their assigned sponsors and had a unique opportunity to explore different career fields. The participating career fields were airfield operations, air traffic control, logistics, civil engineering, knowledge operations and communications, security forces, chaplains and services.

"I visited security forces. They have a lot of power, but they have a great responsibility protecting us. I also visited the communications command. Their technology is one of the best in the world," said Kenley Brown, age 11, about his visit to security forces and the communications flight.

"This experience showed me how to be a chaplain and show people how to be closer to God. It was fun," said Bryce Whitford, age 11, upon his return from visiting the chaplain.

The students listened, observed and asked questions to their attentive mentors as they took part in activities such as flight planning, airfield inspections, patrol calls, fire department duties, spiritual wellness counseling, customer service inquiries and fitness equipment maintenance. The mentors appreciated the opportunity to highlight their career fields to the students and to show how they fit into Team Moron. They also enjoyed the enthusiasm and help that each student displayed.

"I really enjoyed the Job Shadow Day, "said Airman 1st Class Sarah White, 496th ABS services. "It was different and fun for me and everyone that came in the fitness center. The response from the students was equally as enthusiastic."

Kyle Mullinix, age 11, said it was a good opportunity to investigate what his future career might be.

"It was so much fun. I ended up getting a collection of hats," said Carrissa Warren, age 12.

Daniella Crossdale, age 13, summed it up with, "It was totally wicked. After what we did that day, I would definitely consider being a cop. I'm still yelling about how awesome it was and how I had a good time."

The event wrapped up with a joint lunch debrief at the installation dining facility. All participating students received a certificate of achievement signed by their sponsors and went back to school with new insights into the practical application of academics. It was a truly fun experience they will never forget.
