  • Ramstein resumes outbound flights to US after three-week pause

    Evacuees board an outbound flight to the United States from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Oct. 9, 2021. This is the first flight to depart Ramstein after a three-week pause. Outbound flights were temporarily paused at the request of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention out of an abundance of caution due to the discovery of a small number of measles cases in the United States among recently arrived evacuees from Afghanistan. Approximately 8,800 evacuees received the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and the majority of eligible evacuees received the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine at Ramstein and Rhine Ordnance Barracks.

  • HH-60G A6212 takes final flight before retirement

    AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- The HH-60G Pave Hawk zipped side-to-side as it performed aerial maneuvers above Croatia. All the while, two crew members fired their mini guns at targets with precision and focus. The helicopter provided top cover for U.S. Army soldiers on the ground below. Although, this helicopter was on its final flight after 30 years of service.

  • Spangdahlem Air Base validates rapid mobility and munitions resupply alongside joint partners for ACE exercise

    Airmen assigned to the 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air Base deployed to Leeuwarden Air Base, Netherlands, last month to execute a short-notice Agile Combat Employment exercise. During the mission, the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron’s Traffic Management Office, Outbound Cargo Operations exercised the capability of moving live munitions to austere operating locations.
  • U.S. Air Force activates first Europe-based F-35A Squadron

    The 48th Fighter Wing has reactivated the first U.S. Air Forces in Europe F-35A squadron. The 495th Fighter Squadron, nicknamed as the “Valkyries,” was activated at exactly 8:49 and 50 seconds, Friday morning, 30 years to the day since its designation as a fighter squadron.
