Commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa Gen. James B. Hecker met with MIT Lincoln Laboratory Director, Dr. Melissa G. Choi, Oct. 31, to discuss emerging capabilities and orient with the USAFE-AFAFRICA and NATO Allied Air Command missions.

The MIT Lincoln Laboratory party visited with USAFE-AFAFRICA and NATO AIRCOM leaders and subject matter experts including: 

  • Lt. Gen. Jason Hinds – USAFE-AFAFRICA Deputy Commander, 
  • Air Marshall John ‘Johnny’ Stringer – NATO AIRCOM Deputy Commander, 
  • Brig. Gen. Scott Rowe – USAFE-AFAFRICA Director of Plans and Programs, 

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a multidisciplinary federally funded research and development center run by MIT for the Department of Defense. 

The Laboratory focuses on advanced technology development and system prototyping for national security needs. Laboratory-sponsored programs include work for the military services and other government agencies, such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
