Air National Guard C-17 aircraft arrive for Saber Guardian 21

U.S. Airmen and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft assigned to the 155th Airlift Squadron, 164th Airlift Wing, Tennessee Air National Guard, Memphis Air National Guard Base, Tennessee, arrived at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to provide airlift for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System for Saber Guardian 21. Saber Guardian 21 consists of field training exercises and live fire exercises and is designed to improve the integration of multinational combat forces from May 24 - June 9, 2021. 

The 41st Field Artillery Brigade and the Tennessee ANG will conduct a HIMARS Rapid Infiltration at Nova Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, June 1, 2021. Those interested can view via livestream on Facebook at www.facebook.com/USArmyEURAF.  

Saber Guardian 21 is associated with DEFENDER-Europe 21, which will build readiness and interoperability by exercising U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s ability to integrate approximately 30,000 U.S., allied and partner forces from 26 nations to conduct simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen nations from the Baltics, to Africa, to the critical Black Sea and Balkan regions. 

During Saber Guardian 21 approximately 13,500 service members from 16 countries will conduct brigade-level live fires as well and air and missile defense operation. A hospital exercise with a simulated casualty from 2nd Calvary Regiment will also take place. During the hospital exercise an Aeromedical Evacuation will occur out of Ramstein AB, Germany, with airlift provided by the 37th AS, 86th AW, Ramstein AB, Germany.

Additional U.S. Air Force support include Airmen assigned to the 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem AB, Germany, 86th AW and 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, Ramstein AB, Germany. Additional U.S. Army support includes 7th Army Training Command, Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Training Support Activity Europe, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Air and Missile Defense Center 18th Military Police Brigade, and 30th Medical Brigade.

Events such as Saber Guardian 21 provide vital opportunities, not only for multiple United States services to work together, but also for integrated, total force training with Reserve and National Guard units and our partner nations’ militaries to ensure interoperability.
