Exercise Allied Strike-2011 on for June 22 - July 2 Published May 17, 2011 By 010511 RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- Exercise Allied Strike 2011, an annual U.S. and NATO Close Air Support exercise, is scheduled for June 22 - July 2 in Grafenwoehr, Germany. The exercise is designed to provide realistic training for U.S. and NATO participants in all aspects of Tactical Air Control and CAS. Participating nations include Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, the UK and the U.S. As Europe's premier CAS exercise, Allied Strike allows participants to conduct robust, realistic training that helps build partnership capacity among NATO nations and refine the latest operational CAS tactics, techniques and procedures. Media are welcome to attend the opening ceremony scheduled for June 22. There will also be a Media Day on June 28, which will feature live demonstrations of the training taking place throughout the exercise. Examples include JTAC personnel coordinating CAS in a variety of scenarios such as base defense, convoy operations, or in an urban environment. Opportunities to cover other portions of the exercise will also be available. Exercise organizers will provide media with logistical support at the exercise site, located at the U.S. Army's Joint Multinational Training Command in Grafenwoehr.
