ACCRA, Ghana -- U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Ronald Jolly, the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa director of logistics, engineering and force protection, met with Ghanaian air force Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson, air chief of staff, Dec. 12, 2019, for bilateral discussions between the two air forces.
Jolly and Hanson met to specifically discuss the West African Logistics Network and how the Ghanaian air force participates in operations supporting that regional logistics network. The West African Logistics Network consists of a series of “hub-and-spoke” tactical airlift resupply routes enabling the U.S. to ferry personnel, supplies, equipment, and mail to U.S. service members operating in the region.
Accra serves as the “hub” of the network and during the meeting Jolly thanked Hanson for Ghana’s continued support to the U.S. mission and emphasized the importance of cooperation and partnership between the two nations.
“The partnerships we have with our African teammates are crucial throughout the continent,” said Jolly. “I can’t thank Air Vice Marshall Hanson enough for what he and the Ghanaian air force are doing to support the U.S. Air Force and the West African Logistics Network, and it is our desire to expand that cooperation in the future.”
General officer and senior civilian engagements like this demonstrate U.S. resolve and commitment to continue building and strengthening cooperation between the U.S. and critical partners across Africa.
