U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and personnel assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s 62nd Airlift Wing and 446th AW alongside Joint Base Charleston’s 315th AW and 437th AW, arrived in Europe, May 10, 2022, to support exercise Swift Response 2022.

The C-17 cargo aircraft will support the Europe-wide exercise from locations in Italy, Slovenia and the United Kingdom to provide airlift and airdrop capabilities.

Exercise Swift Response is an annual U.S. Army Europe and Africa multinational training exercise taking place this year across Eastern Europe, the Arctic High North, Baltic Sea region, and Balkan Peninsula from May 2-24.

Approximately 9,000 service members from 17 Allied and partner nations will participate in the exercise, including approximately 2,700 U.S. Soldiers and Airmen. The U.S. and its European Allies and partners will demonstrate their ability to move a U.S. division-sized force, quickly build combat power, and execute command and control operations.

Military exercises with Allied and partner nations in the European and African theaters are integral to demonstrate the Alliance’s readiness, interoperability, and capability.
