USAFE - AFAFRICA welcomes new command chief Published July 22, 2019 U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- Chief Master Sgt. Brion P. Blais was selected as the new U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa command chief master sergeant.As the command chief, Blais is the senior enlisted advisor to the commander on all matters affecting operations, training and readiness, health, morale and welfare, discipline and effective use of more than 32,000 total force personnel assigned to eight wings and 88 geographically separated units responsible for operations across 104 countries.“I am incredibly humbled to be given the opportunity to serve the dedicated men and women of this great command as the next USAFE - AFAFRICA command chief,” said Blais. “With a rich history stretching back over seven decades and a dynamic and engaging mission across two continents, this is ‘the command’ to be in!”Previously, Blais was the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Blais entered the Air Force in May of 1994 and has served in key leadership roles across three major commands, at the squadron, group, wing and center levels. He was also previously assigned to the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron at RAF Lakenheath, England, as a team leader and the noncommissioned officer in charge of training and supply elements for the explosive ordnance disposal flight.Blais assumed his new duties July 22, 2019. He succeeds Chief Master Sgt. Phillip L. Easton, who was selected to serve as the U.S. European Command senior enlisted leader.
