USAFE Unveils New TACAN System for Enhanced Combat Deployments
Airman First Class Isaiah Martinez and Staff Sgt. Morgan Giacomelli demonstrate the ease in assembling the1st Combat Communications Squadron’s newest Tactical Air Navigation System. Small and portable, the antenna can provide precise distance information to 250 aircraft simultaneously to coordinate an effective air bridge to expedite military airlift and air operations wherever needed. The 1st Combat Communications Squadron, part of the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing based at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, provides rapidly-deployable communications and air traffic control services across three continents as well as supporting NATO and UN partners.
