Airmen assigned to the 724th Air Mobility Squadron offload a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft from the 62nd Airlift Wing, based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. during Defender 23, at Aviano Air Base, Italy, May 5, 2023. The 31st Fighter Wing is supporting multiple Air Mobility Forces and Air Force Reserve Commands during Defender 23 exercise, a U.S. Army Europe and Africa led exercise designed to demonstrate the U.S. military's ability to rapidly deploy combat-credible troops and equipment to assure allies, deter those who would threaten the peace of Europe and defend the continent from aggression.
