A legacy of valor: The 95th RS remembers the Doolittle Raid
April 2022 marks the 80th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid, a U.S. Army Air Forces-led airstrike that took place April 18, 1942, in response to the attack on Pearl Harbor which provided a boost to American morale by highlighting weaknesses of the Japanese. The 95th Reconnaissance Squadron stationed at Royal Air Force Mildenhall has been assigned a variety of designations over its nearly 105 years of existence, including their involvement in the Doolittle Raid as the 95th Bombardment Squadron during World War II.
