US, Serbians, commemorate 75th anniversary of daring WWII rescue

Wreaths laid by U.S. and Serbian leaders adorn the monument to Operation Halyard after the 75th anniversary ceremony at Galovica field, Pranjani, Serbia on September 15, 2019. The Serbian and American intelligence communities erected the monument to honor the memory of the OSS members and the efforts of all the Serbian and American people involved in the operation. Operation Halyard was the largest rescue of downed Airmen and the largest repatriation effort of World War II. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Alexis K. Washburn-Jasinski)
