Kakuma refugee camp, situated in North West Kenya, was home for Staff Sgt. Martha Otto before immigrating to the U.S in 2000, later going on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. Otto fled her South-Sudanese home at the age of seven in search of safety from Joseph Kony’s Lord Resistance Army and spent the majority of her childhood in refugee camps. (Stock photo)
