FARP tryouts leave Airmen gassed

Current members of the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron Forward Area Refueling Point team encourage U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Joshua Sledge, 100th LRS mobile distribution operator, as he pulls a fuel hose during FARP team tryouts Sept. 3, 2015, on RAF Mildenhall, England. Tryouts consisted of pulling the hose 300 feet, returning to the starting position; carrying a five-gallon water can, 20-pound fire extinguisher and a squeegee to the end of the hose; then carrying a 85-pound rolled up hose back to the beginning all while being timed. Utilized mostly in potentially hazardous areas, a FARP is the process of refueling aircraft on the ground from another parked aircraft. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Kate Thornton/Released)
