Airman Basic to Command Chief, journey to the top
After 29 years of serving in the Air Force, Chief Master Sgt. Mark Batzer, 31st Fighter Wing command chief, will relinquish his position as the highest enlisted service member to a new command chief Oct. 31, and will officially retire Jan. 15, 2015. The Lancaster, PA, native, who graduated from basic military training October of 1985, plans to head back to Pennsylvania with his wife, Joanna, after retirement.
