NDI protects lives, saves money
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Bradley Johnson, 100th Maintenance Squadron non-destructive inspection journeyman from Bakersfield, Calif., sprays the excess penetrant off a KC-135 Stratotanker horizontal hinge bracket Feb. 11, 2014, on RAF Mildenhall, England. After rinsing off the penetrant, only areas of the part affected by cracks will have penetrant left on them, thus allowing an inspector to see the defects. Once the penetrant has set into a crack, it is safe to rinse the rest of the part before inspection. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Dillon Johnston/Released)
