Israel Caballero, 100th Maintenance Squadron Aircraft Metals Technology craftsman from Palmdale, Calif., parts off a thread protector for support equipment Feb. 17, 2014, in Hangar 814 on RAF Mildenhall, England. Aircraft Metals Technology Airmen make many metal parts for aircraft and equipment from scratch. The entire process for making the thread protector took approximately four hours and included internal drilling, threading, radiusing on the metal piece, then parting off the required section.
