MWD Dan retires after 9 years in USAF
The 65th Security Forces Squadron hosted a Military Working Dog retirement ceremony March 25, 2014, for MWD Dan, a 9-year U.S. Air Force veteran. Dan served as a devoted team member to 10 MWD handlers as a narcotics detector on Lajes Field, Azores. Military Working Dogs are significant assets in military operations, from conducting checks at base entry control points, keeping drugs and contraband off the installation to uncovering improvised explosive devices, saving numerous lives.
