Lajes Field supports A-10s
U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 65th Operations Support Squadron and the 190th Fighter Squadron prepare A-10 Thunderbolts for departure June 10, 2014, Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal. The A-10 is specifically designed for close air support, and is capable of large and varied ordnance load, long loiter time, accurate weapons delivery, austere field capability and survivability.
