Maintaining the defense of Iceland
KEFLAVIK AIRPORT, Iceland ? Airman 1st Class Maria Carlson, an F-15 crew chief with the 493rd Fighter Squadron, looks over the aircraft?s forms one last time prior to the pilot walking out to the aircraft. Without crew chiefs and other aircraft maintainers, the aircraft couldn?t fly or practice air defense scenarios in the Northern Viking 2008 multinational exercise here. The air defense portion is designed to promote training opportunities for participating units during live-fly scenarios. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Nathan Gallahan.)
