AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy – Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska, presents Lt. Gen. Glen “Wally” Moorhead, 16th Air Force commander, with the Air Force Association’s inaugral Senator Ted Stevens Leadership Award during a visit here Feb. 20. The award recognizes a senior level numbered air force leader who has demonstrated exemplary leadership through exemplary performance, according to the Air Force Association. Senator Stevens was a pilot in the China Burma India theater with the “Flying Tigers” of the 14th Air Force during World War II. He received two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Air Medals, and the Yuan Hai medal awarded by the Republic of China. Photo by Staff Sgt. Michael Holzworth, 31st Communications Squadron.
