Boy Scout Honored
Joshua Molnar, Nicholas Pelkey and Mitchell Sims, members of Boy Scout Troop 218 color guard prepare to post the colors Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Ira Eldridge Memorial Re-dedication Ceremony at Incirlik Unit School, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. The troop honored the memory of Eagle Scout Eldridge who died in 2001 of leukemia. Ira Eldridge was also the class of 1999 valedictorian at Incirlik Unit School, vice president of the Incirlik Unit School National Honor Society and a member of the varsity soccer team. A memorial plaque was placed on school grounds, but fell into disrepair over the years. The scouts decided it needed to be resurrected and placed in a more prominent location so current and future generations would not forget him. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Staff Sgt. Lauren Padden)
