100th ARW tankers help F-22s cross Atlantic
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- An F-22 Raptor from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, hangs off the wing of a 100th Air Refueling Wing KC-135 en route to the United States. By sticking close to the tanker, the fighter could regularly top off its fuel tanks to ensure it had enough fuel to reach safety in the event it had to land unexpectedly.
