100th SFS Defenders help prep RAF Regiment for Afghanistan tour

STANFORD TRAINING AREA, England -- Airman 1st Class Andrew Casini, 100th Security Forces Squadron, mans an M249 light machine gun while providing overwatch for ground forces intercepting a possible improvised explosive device dig team in a training scenario here Sept. 7. More than 20 Airmen joined in training with members of the Royal Air Force Regiment to prepare the British troops for a deployment to Afghanistan. The American Airmen provided a glimpse of what it's like for the regiment to team up with U.S. Marines in theater. Among other differences, each country operates under separate rules of engagement, which presents leaders with the challenge of controlling confrontations with enemy forces.
