Members of the 106th Rescue Wing from Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base, Westhampton Beach, N.Y., unload an HH-60 Pavehawk from a C-17 Globemaster III at Air Force Base Ysterplaat, South Africa, for the Africa Aerospace & Defence 2010 exhibition. The New York National Guard participates in a State Partnership Program with the South African National Defence Force and sent an Army National Guard OH-58 Kiowa Scout Helicopter and the Pavehawk rescue helicopter to participate in the exhibition. The C-17 Globemaster III is assigned to a Heavy Airlift Wing from Papa Air Base, Hungary, and routinely supports European Union, NATO and U.N. missions with a strategic airlift and global reach capability.
