Conserving energy for a brighter future
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Lucas Wendt, 6, touches a lamp containing an energy-efficient lightbulb, to see for himself how little heat is generated. "Professor Perry" (Steve Perry, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron and base energy awareness manager) then replaced the bulb with an old-style lightbulb to show how much more heat those generate. Mr. Perry gave the children an entertaining demonstration Oct. 22 at the youth center, to talk to them about the three forms of energy -- light, heat and sound -- and discussed ways they and their families could help reduce energy use, as part of Energy Awareness Month.
