Stratotanker returns to sun-split clouds after engine swap
The No. 4 engine space on a KC-135R Stratotanker, deployed from the 100th Air Refueling Wing, sits empty April 21, 2013, in Southwest Europe, after a damaged General Electric CFM-56 engine was detached from the wing. The KC-135’s No. 4 engine was struck by a bird April 9, damaging the fan blades to the point of the engine being unsafe to fly. (U.S. Air Force photo by 1st Lt. Christopher Mesnard/Released)
