The Aviano Men and Lady Saints crushed the competition Feb. 21 at the DODDS-Europe Division II basketball tournament.

The Lady Saints, who had just come off an undefeated season, dropped SHAPE 50-39 to claim the Division II title.

"I'm so proud of this team," coach Shari McGuire said. "They had a goal, and they took care of business both on and off the court."

Alyssa Lane was named tournament MVP and led the team with 19 points.

"We all worked together as a team," said Lane. "We worked very hard all season and it paid off."

The Aviano Saints boy's team devoured the Bamberg team in an 85-59 win to clinch the championship.

"My kids are very, very aggressive," said coach Ken McNeely. "They get all over you. They don't give you any good looks at the basket."

Jamal Tuck's aggressive play found him with a game-high 23 points, earning him the tournament MVP.

"Last year, the girls came in second, and we didn't do very well," Tuck said. "This year, we came up here to win it."
