The hard work and year-round preparation of 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron and 39th Maintenance Squadron will be evaluated during a major inspection Aug. 12-16.

These two lifelines of the 39th Air Base Wing have worked diligently to ensure that not only mission requirements are met, but that Air Force standards are met in a safe and repeatable manner. The Logistics Compliance Assessment Program inspection presents the opportunity to prove the quality of their work, said Lt. Col. James Gherdovich, 39th LRS commander.

"This inspection will validate the hard work of the men and women from both our units," he said. "We have a great team filled with Airmen doing extraordinary work every day."

Chief Master Sgt. Gregory Bobzin, 39th MXS superintendent, echoed the sentiment and stated that feedback is welcomed as Airmen are motivated and ready to show the inspectors what they do on a day-to-day basis to support Incirlik Air Base.

Both sides of the team agreed that the inspection is a good thing and will help make them even stronger.

"The leaps forward in functional knowledge and professional development that occur as bi-products of our preparation and the mentorship provided by inspectors drive the Airmen's focus," said Gherdovich. "The numerical grade we'll receive next Friday will help prove that there's always room for improvement, even in world-class teams such as ours."

The five-day inspection will grade everything from the quality of logistics support equipment and programs to individual Airmen on the ability to perform specific tasks. Many of these individual Airmen are ready for the evaluation to begin.

"We're looking really good," said Airman 1st Class Brian Lee, 39th LRS essential storage apprentice. "Mostly we've been doing little, detailed stuff to make sure all our programs are good to go. We're definitely prepared."

But, one might ask what happens the rest of the year when units aren't preparing for an inspection.

"The Airmen here are some of the best I've ever seen, and we keep working hard every day," said Staff Sgt. Justin Miller, 39th MXS crash recovery and transit alert team member. "Our inspection preparation is just polishing the corners."

Gherdovich said his team is not only excited to host the inspectors, but are also eager to have them join in efforts to improve their combat support to fellow warfighters.

"For decades our vision at Incirlik has been to be 'Ready,'" said Gherdovich. "Our wing commander has upgraded our position with his 'Ready to Fight Tonight' perspective, and the Airmen are chomping at the bit to demonstrate capability."
