Joint Honor Guard shines on international TV

LONDON --  When most people go to an NFL game, they are excited to see their favorite team or have good seats to see the game, but for four servicemembers from RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth their excitement came from standing at attention on the sideline at the 50-yard line of the 8th International Series NFL game in London Oct. 27.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Gregory Morgan, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Eldon Pagaragan, U.S. Marine Sgt. Emily Hale, U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Daniel Ayer, all members of the Joint Honor Guard, represented their services by presenting the colors while Ne-Yo sang the U.S. national anthem during the pregame activities of the game between the San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars in Wembley Stadium.

"It's incredible to be part of such a high profile event" said Hale. "It's different to see people working together with different personalities and how it all comes together in the end."

"To be part of the honor guard is one of the greatest honors any Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine could ever dream of," said Morgan. "You represent your service and your country in front of millions of people from around the world."

Military honor guards serve as ambassadors to the public, presenting a positive image of their service, and assisting with the recruiting effort.

"I've been on an honor guard team since I joined the military," said Ayer. "It's been a great duty, every new command I go to, I look for whoever is on honor guard and go for it."

"After you do the detail, it's truly a good feeling just to know that you are representing your country and your flag," said Pagaragan.
