LAJES FIELD, Azores -- The 65th Operations Support Squadron supported a coronet of U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolts June 10, 2014, Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal. The A-10s are from the 190th Fighter Squadron, Idaho Air National Guard. The A-10 is specifically designed for close air support, and is capable of large and varied ordnance load, long loiter time, accurate weapons delivery, austere field capability and survivability. The 65th OSS enables expeditionary forces by providing world-class air traffic control, airfield management, transient aircraft maintenance services, aerospace ground equipment, non-destructive testing, sheet metal fabrication, and weather support to U.S. and allied forces transiting the Atlantic or conducting contingency operations from Lajes Field.
