U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Ospreys arrive Aug. 26, 2014, Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal. The MV-22Bs are assigned to Marine Helicopter Squadron One, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va. The MV-22Bs and Marines assigned to HMX-1 provide Presidential and VIP support in addition to their primary role as the Operational Test and Evaluation unit for Marine assault support helicopters and related equipment. The 65th Operations Support Squadron enables expeditionary forces by providing world-class air traffic control, airfield management, transient aircraft maintenance services, aerospace ground equipment, non-destructive testing, sheet metal fabrication, and weather support to U.S. and allied forces transiting the Atlantic or conducting contingency operations from Lajes Field.
