Every 90 days, petroleum, oil and lubricants Airmen inspect liquid oxygen tank locks for leaks and tests the oxygen's purity. Liquid oxygen is necessary for pilots while flying at high altitudes. To handle the -238 degree liquid oxygen, Airmen must wear proper personal-protection equipment, which includes safety glasses, face shields and long sleeve shirts.
