Benefits being granted to same-sex spouses in Germany Published Sept. 9, 2015 U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa Public Affairs RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- Effective Sept. 9, U.S. Military same-sex spouses assigned to Germany are eligible for Status of Forces Agreement credentials and command sponsorship authorizations. Military and civilian personnel in same-sex marriages are now authorized to receive the same overseas benefits, entitlements and allowances in Germany as those currently authorized to all other spouses of military and civilian personnel. Examples of such benefits include family travel, command sponsorship, SOFA, government controlled quarters, off-post housing, tax-exempt privileges and other associated benefits.
