RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The Third Air Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Paul Moga observed 435th Air Ground Operations Wing Airmen on March 7 over the Alzey Drop Zone in Ober-Flörsheim, Germany. 435 AGOW forces conducted personnel airdrops from an 86 Airlift Wing C-130J operated by the 37th Airlift Squadron. A total of 95 German and American jumpers from three units received training.
The airdrops were the result of collaboration between multiple military units and were designed to enhance operational readiness and coordination between the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and their German counterparts. The training exercise was conducted through a partnership between the 435 AGOW, 37 AS, 5th Quartermaster Detachment, and 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (1/10 SFG), underscoring the importance of cooperation in joint military operations.
"Today’s mission provided us a front row seat to Airmen and Soldiers as they honed their skills in airborne operations," said Maj Gen Moga. "This training is essential for effective multinational operations because it improves our ability to operate alongside allies and partners and strengthens the interoperability and teamwork of our warriors."
The airdrop operations involved personnel jumps that are vital for military units requiring rapid insertion into contested areas, simulating real-world scenarios to ensure Airmen and Soldiers are fully capable to match future threats.
"We organize, train and equip our units by matching capabilities to threats," Moga said. "Our partnership with our German allies and the readiness of these units showcases our commitment to remaining the strongest and most lethal force in the world."
Maj. Gen. Moga's visit serves as a testament to the value of collaboration, training, readiness, and shared commitment to regional defense.
