U.S. aircraft arrive for the Farnborough International Airshow

The first U.S. military aircraft and personnel have arrived at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, in Farnborough, England, to represent the United States during the Farnborough International Air Show, July 18-22, 2022. 

Participation in this year's airshow highlights U.S. dedication to NATO Allies and Partners, and our always strong alliance with the United Kingdom, which showcases our interoperability with Allies and Partners. The event also illustrates the U.S. defense industry's state-of-the-art capabilities which are integral for the support and protection of our Allies' and Partners’ national security requirements.

"We are very happy to be here after the long hiatus caused by COVID," said Lt. Col. Phillippe Melby, 100th Air Refueling Wing, Operations Group deputy commander and this year's U.S. Airboss. The Farnborough International Tradeshow is a great opportunity for U.S. forces to demonstrate our commitment to European security, while highlighting our capabilities and strengthening partnerships. With our NATO Partners and Allies, we continue to transform, modernize, and accelerate change in order to dominate in any battlespace."

Numerous models of U.S. military aircraft are scheduled to support as aircraft static displays, including the F-35A Lightning II, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-15E Strike Eagle, C-130H Hercules, P-8A Poseidon, AH-64E Apache and CH-47F Chinook. U.S. military personnel participating in the air show will provide aircrew, security, aircraft maintenance, public affairs and administrative support.  

U.S. military participation in the Farnborough International Airshow plays an important role in supporting U.S. European Command’s theater strategy by demonstrating U.S commitment to European Allies and Partners, and highlighting U.S. capabilities to diverse audiences.

Support of this premier event strengthens the unwavering U.S. commitment to the security of Europe, and also shows how U.S. industry is producing equipment that will be essential to the success of current and future military operations.

Due to COVID-19 the last FIA, which is bi-annual was held in 2018, with 112 countries represented with 80,000 attendees. This year’s event is expected to have more than 100,000 visitors, 150 exhibitors and military and civilian delegations from 50 countries.
