Project CHEER offers free movies during holidays

U.S. Air Forces in Europe Services and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service are teaming up to support Project CHEER by offering free movies at select Air Force base movie theaters on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

In its second consecutive year, the free movie program, dubbed “Merry Movie Magic,” includes free admission, plus one medium serving of popcorn and one medium soda to those attending a specifically designated movie.

“The goal of this initiative is to get Airmen out of the dorms and doing something fun during the Holiday Season,” said Amanda Smith-Nethercott, USAFE Services Director of Marketing and Entertainment. “By offering free movies, we are hoping to make their Thanksgiving and Christmas Day even more special.”

Airmen should check AAFES movie theater schedules and base papers for specific times and movie titles. The free movie will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Although this is a Project CHEER command event, the free movies are open to all Department of Defense I.D. cardholders. I.D. cards will be required to gain entrance.

Project CHEER stands for Creating Hope, Energy, Enthusiasm and Recreation and is a USAFE special interest program. Its purpose is to provide additional support during the winter months and during holidays for the command’s single and unaccompanied Airmen.
