USAFE Idol hits Ramstein April 22 Published April 11, 2006 By USAFE News Service SEMBACH AIR BASE, Germany -- The second annual U.S. Air Forces in Europe Idol Contest takes place at 7 p.m. April 22 in the Ramstein Officers’ Club. “The USAFE Idol Talent contest is going to be a fantastic show,” said Maj. Scott Guidry, USAFE Band commander. “We’ve got a lot of talented people in USAFE -- the competition is going to be tough. Everyone should come out to hear the music and enjoy the entertainment."The final event culminates nine weeks of competitions held at eight USAFE installations. In addition to the tremendous amount of talent, Mandy Smith-Nethercott, USAFE Services chief of marketing and entertainment, said she’s been impressed with the community support at each base-level competition. “The communities really came out to support all of the contestants,” said Ms. Smith-Nethercott. “Each base-level contest was packed. For the finals we are expecting an even bigger crowd to come out. It’s going to be a great event.” The winners of the base-level competitions will compete at the finals after a week of workshops conducted by the USAFE Band. The finalists are: Capt. Hollie C. Losee, Lajes Field, Azores Senior Airman Elizabeth Milliken, Aviano Air Base, Italy Master Sgt. Irand Denton, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England Capt. Shelly Frank, RAF Alconbury, England Master Sgt. Douglas A. Gosselin, RAF Lakenheath, England Staff Sgt. Michelle Miller, Ramstein AB, Germany Senior Airman Antonio Howard, Spangdahlem AB, Germany Tech. Sgt. Walter Womack, Incirlik AB, Turkey The event is free and open to all Department of Defense cardholders, family members and guests.
