2006 USAFE Youth of the Year winner announced

An 18-year-old from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, has been selected as the 2006 U.S. Air Forces in Europe Youth of the Year. By receiving the honor, Samantha Lamont is awarded a $3,000 scholarship for post high school education. 

The USAFE Services award recognizes superior leadership skills, academic achievement and outstanding service to the community. Ms. Lamont was selected from 11 candidates for her outstanding service to Lakenheath Youth Programs, community involvement and academic achievement.

Ms. Lamont will compete for European Youth of the Year honors with U.S. Army in Europe and U.S. Naval Forces Europe Youth of the Year winners. If selected as the European Youth of the Year, Ms. Lamont will travel to the U.S. to compete at the regional level of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year Program.

The base-level Youth of the Year winners are also recognized for their initiative, public service and personal development. The following were selected as base-level Youth of the Year winners and have been recognized for their accomplishments:
