Airman Calvin Hil from the 56th Rescue Squadron at Naval Air Station Keflavik, Iceland, will face a capital murder trial for the death of Airman 1st Class Ashley Turner, who also was from the 56th RS in Iceland.

The referral of charges was signed today by Lt. Gen. Robert D. Bishop, Jr.,  Air Command Europe commander, and the general court martial convening authority.

Airman Hill faces five charges including murder, absence without leave, false official statement, larceny and wrongful appropriation, and obstructing justice. Before the alleged murder, Airman Hill had been charged with and was awaiting court martial for monetary crimes against Airman Turner and for being absent without leave.

Airman Hill allegedly murdered Airman Turner Aug. 14, 2005, to prevent her from testifying in his own court martial. Airman Hill was taken into custody that same day.

The general court martial will convene at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington D.C., at a date to be determined.
