RAF Lakenheath teen wins 2006 European Youth of the Year award Published June 6, 2006 SEMBACH AIR BASE, Germany (USAFENS) -- An 18-year-old from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, is winner of the 2006 European Youth of the Year award.Samantha Lamont competed for the award against teens from all branches of service in Europe. As the European winner, she will travel to New York later this year to compete in the Northeast Regional Level Youth of the Year competition. The annual Youth of the Year Program recognizes superior leadership skills, academic achievement and outstanding service to the community. Ms. Lamont was also awarded U.S. Air Forces in Europe Youth of the Year honors and received a $3,000 scholarship for post high school education. For the USAFE-level award, Ms. Lamont was selected from 11 candidates for her outstanding service to Lakenheath Youth Programs, community involvement and academic achievement.
