2005 PA Achievement Awards honors USAFE

U.S. Air Forces in Europe announces the USAFE recipients of the 2005 Public Affairs Achievement Awards.

Two USAFE unit and six members were recognized at the Air Force level for their accomplishments.

The Brig. Gen. Harry J. Dalton, Jr., award is awarded annually to a major command within the Air Force to recognize the most outstanding public affairs program supporting the Air Force mission. The 2005 Dalton Award has been awarded to Headquarters USAFE Public Affairs, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

The small unit category was awarded to the 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey.

Air Force News Detachment 6 at Lajes Field, Azores, was named as the best broadcast operation.

The Air Force Public Affairs Special Achievement For Commander Support has been awarded to Brig. Gen. Robert Kane, former 86th Airlift Wing commander, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Public Affairs Individual Achievement Awards include the following categories and recipients:

The "Best of the Best" award recipient is Senior Master Sgt. Stefan Alford, USAFE/PA, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The award is sponsored by the Air Force Public Affairs Alumni Association and recognizes the outstanding officer, civilian or enlisted person from all nominated bandsmen, broadcasters and public affairs professionals. The recipient is selected on the basis of professional excellence and significant contributions to the Air Force mission.

Sergeant Alford is also the recipient of the Outstanding Public Affairs Senior Noncommissioned Officer for 2005.

Outstanding Broadcast Noncommissioned Officer is Staff Sgt. Marty Rush, AFNEWS Det. 6, Lajes Field, Azores.

Outstanding Broadcast Airman is Senior Airman Angela Byers, AFNEWS Det. 9, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.

Outstanding Contribution to Public Affairs Programs is Verla Davis, 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs, RAF Lakenheath Air Base, England
