USAFE announces John L. Hennessy Award winners Published Dec. 13, 2006 RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- The Air Force presents the John L. Hennessy Award each year to recognize bases that excel in their overall Food Service operation. The USAFE 2007 Hennessy Award winners are: Single facility category...Incirlik AB, Turkey, Multiple facilities category (two or more dining facilities serving a minimum of three meals per day)...Mildenhall AB, England, and the Small site...Klein Brogel, Germany. The John L. Hennessy trophy is an annual award that is presented to the best food service operations in the United States Air Force. The award is based on the entire scope of an installation's food service program, exhibiting excellence in kitchen operations, serving and dining operations, training, personnel and readiness, sanitation, repair maintenance, and management effectiveness. Achieving success in the Hennessy competition is a reflection of pride, commitment, motivation to be the best and tenacious commitment to excellence. The Hennessy program is sponsored by the National Restaurant Association, The Society for Food Service Management and the International Food Service Executives Association. Evaluators are handpicked from a pool of civilian restaurant professionals, alongside military representatives with extensive food service knowledge. The Air Force Form 1038, Food Service Evaluation Record is the primary assessment tool used to evaluate the effectiveness of each operation.
