Team Incirlik floods to theater by the 100s Published Jan. 30, 2007 By Senior Airman Patrice Clarke 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The Oasis Movie Theater had been closed for more than three months, but when the doors opened Jan. 27 the line to see "Happy Feet," which began at 5 p.m., could be seen as early as 4:20 p.m. More than 450 Team Incirlik members came out to see the three movies offered throughout the weekend. "The opening was more than we expected," said Steve Hills, Army and Air Force Exchange Service manger. "We heard people throughout the night commenting on how they missed the opportunity of going to see a movie." The movie theater had several upgrades during the renovation which consisted of replacing ceiling tiles and lighting, refurbishing the sound system, putting up a new screen, redesigning the Reel Time Snack area, installing aisle lighting, installing new seats with cup holders, painting and putting up sound enhancement paper on the walls. "I liked the colored paint job," said Nikki Flores, 39th Mission Support Group administrative assistant. "It really brightens the place up. My kids were very excited to be in the theater again getting sugared up. They also enjoyed having their own bag of popcorn." According to Mr. Hills, the most important renovation was giving the Incirlik community a boost to our quality of life. Something Susan Hilton, an Incirlik American School teacher can appreciate. "I have really missed my Saturday night movies and the ritual of good popcorn. I am glad it's reopened," she said. Base members have the opportunity to go to the movies four nights a week. Weekly schedules are printed in the Incirlik Express. For an in-depth movie synopsis and schedule click here.
